Club America, Tigres, finalists of the Apertura 2023

The Apertura 2023 of the Liga MX Femenil has its finalists: Club America, and Tigres, were the teams that reached the final.

MIAMI, Florida – The Apertura 2023 of the Liga MX Femenil has its finalists: Club America, the defending champions, and Tigres, the most decorated club with five trophies, were the teams that reached the most important game of the season.

Club America did it by downing Club Guadalajara in the Clasico Nacional, with the first leg happening on Thursday and ending in a 2-2 draw with goals from FW Katty Martinez and FW Alison Gonzalez in the first half. Guadalajara managed to tie in the next 45 minutes thanks to the services of captain Alicia Cervantes

On Monday, the Estadio Azteca saw the second leg of this semifinal, with Club America coming from behind after Chivas scored in the 68’ from a corner kick that MF Cassandra Montero managed to put in the back of the net. However, Captain Kiana Palacios tallied the first one for Las Aguilas in the 75’ and then the second one arriving just minutes later, in the 79’, with DF Andrea Pereira scoring from inside the area to seal Club America’s ticket to the final.

Tigres vs. Monterrey

The other semifinal was another Clasico of Mexican women’s football, with Tigres facing Monterrey. The first leg on Friday at Monterrey’s Estadio BBVA saw a goalless draw, leaving everything to fight for on Monday evening. Both teams arrived to the Estadio Universitario in front of 40,039 fans, and in the 81’ Tigres FW Stephany Mayor fired into net, giving Tigres the chance to fight for their sixth trophy.

Liga Femenina de Costa Rica

The regular season of the Clausura 2023 of Costa Rica has come to an end, with the four teams that reached the semifinals ready to keep fighting to become champions. Sporting FC, Saprissa FF, CS Herediano and current champions LD Alajuelense reached the final four after the last match day of regular season on Sunday.

They all got wins, the current Champions defeating Municipal Zeledon 4-0. Carolina Miranda, Maria Paula Arce, Fabiola Villalobos and Marinelis Oporta were the authors of the goals of the evening.

Sporting FC made a statement with an 8-0 win against COFUTPA. Hilary Corrales, Diana Vallejos, Lourdes Viana (2), Emily Flores (3) and Daniela Coto were the players that made sure their team reached the semifinals with high spirits.

Saprissa FF got their win against Municipal Pococi in a 2-0 final, with Alexis Lipsey and Sofia Varela getting the goals. Lastly, CS Herediano got the job done against Dimas Escazu, who got a goal from Maria Harley, however, Dariana Espinoza and Veronica Matarrita gave their team the win and the chance to fight for the championship.
