MIAMI – The summer transfer window is known to be full of surprises, and Concacaf players were no exception to this. In July of the current year, Liga MX Femenil legend Desiree Monsivais announced her move to Glasgow City FC, after having won it all with her now former team, the Rayadas of Monterrey.

After scoring 119 goals, being crowned champion two times with Rayadas, and becoming the first player from La Liga MX Femenil to achieve the 100 goals mark, Monsivais made one of the biggest moves of her career to date, landing in Scotland to play, once again, outside Mexico.

The 15-time winners of the Scottish Premier League recruited the services of the Mexican striker in order to face the upcoming season and their most important challenge of the year, qualifying to the UEFA Women’s Champions League.

The new No.9 of Glasgow City FC made her debut on August 14 in a preseason match, with more than 20 minutes on the pitch, after being subbed on in the second half. She showed why she is one of the stellar signings of the summer, helping her team control the game and create some goal chances, winning the match 1-0 against Motherwell F.C.

While adjusting to her new team, Monsivais and the Scottish side are ready to face the UEFA Women’s Champions League qualifiers, following crucial league matches against Dundee United and Aberdeen L.F.C. Glasgow City FC are looking to qualify and improve upon their best performance in the tournament, which came in the quarterfinals on two different occasions.

This is not the first time the Mexican has appeared in one of the biggest stages of women’s football. Monsivais is no stranger to showing her talents on international stages, having played for Biik Kazygurt FC in 2015. While being part of the Kazajistan team, she scored more than 10 goals, being part of the squad that played the UWCL that same year.

Now, a new opportunity awaits for Monsivais to shine on the European stage.
