LONDON – Tottenham Hotspur announced Wednesday that it has transferred United States DeAndre Yedlin to English Championship side Newcastle United.

The right-back joined Tottenham from Major League Soccer’s Seattle Sounders in January 2015, making his Premier League debut against Aston Villa on April 11, 2015.

Yedlin, 23, spent last season on loan at Sunderland, where he made 25 appearances in all competitions.

With the U.S., Yedlin has earned 39 caps and has competed in the FIFA World Cup (2014), CONCACAF Gold Cup (2015), CONCACAF Cup (2015) and the Copa America Centenario (2016).

As a member of the Seattle Sounders, he played in four Scotiabank CONCACAF Champions League matches, netting in a 3-1 quarterfinal win over visiting Tigres on March 12, 2013.
